"After being treated poorly by another local
company, it was a wonderful experience for the treatment I
received from Thiele, Boone Coy, and your installation crew.
Thank you for restoring my faith in a service company."
The Realities of Geothermal Heating and Cooling

Geothermal Heating and Cooling: Thiele Heating & Air Conditioning,
Indianapolis, Indiana
Indianapolis, Indiana:March 7, 2011 - If it's time for you to think about replacing your home's heating or
cooling equipment, you should seriously consider a geothermal system,
the most energy-efficient, environment-friendly “green” technology
readily available.
With recent advancements in installation methods combined with current
tax credits and other incentives, a rapidly growing percentage of homeowners have replaced traditional heating and air conditioning system with geothermal
to benefit from the long-term savings.
The problem is, many people still have misconceptions about geothermal
systems that keep them from taking advantage of the many benefits
geothermal has to offer. Read
"Misconceptions About Geothermal Heating and Cooling" to find out
more.

Watch this brief description of the economic
and environmental benefits of geothermal heating and cooling,
produced by Michigan's DTE Energy.
Benefits of Geothermal Heating and Cooling
Geothermal is absolutely the most efficient way to heat and cool
your home.
You will still receive a monthly utility bill, but your operating costs
will be up to 80% lower than before you installed a geothermal
system.
If you're in a house you plan to stay in for a good while,
geothermal is a no-brainer long-term investment.
Save Money While Living in Your Home; Make Money When You
Sell It!
If you do ever want to sell your home, studies have shown that
high efficiency homes have higher resale values.
A recent study published in
The Appraisal Journal showed that the
market value of a home increases by $10 - $25 for every $1
decrease in annual fuel bills. The study confirms what many have
believed for years: Energy efficiency substantially increases the
market value of owner-occupied homes.
You will spend more for a geothermal system than for a more
traditional heating and cooling system, but the long-term savings
will outweigh the one-time investment.
As utility costs continue to rise, you can smile because you take
a little chunk of that increase and put it in your pocket, not
the utility company's.
The savings become even more dramatic as utility rates continue to
go up, as they historically have.
Repair or Replace, That is the Question
Generally speaking, home owners should consider replacing any
furnace, air conditioner, or heat pump that is 12 years old or older,
because
the cost to repair older equipment could have been applied to the
purchase of new, better, more efficient equipment. Consider these
numbers:
30% tax credit for geothermal compared to just a $500
credit for traditional gas or electric systems
Manufacturer rebates, such as Rheem's $1,000 Cash Back Program
on qualifying geothermal equipment
Potential additional geothermal rebate from your utility company
(policies vary by service provider)
Hundreds of dollars in repair costs will instead become an
investment for your comfortable future
That's potentially thousands of dollars you could put towards the cost of brand
new equipment, versus waiting a year, losing all those incentives
and ending up in the negative financially.
Not everyone with a 12 year old furnace or air conditioner should
replace it. For one thing, you need to consider consumption - how
much energy it takes to run the equipment. I've seen cases where people
were overpaying on their utilities because of poorly maintained
equipment, but I've also seen systems where I recommended they not be
replaced because, even at this time, their energy consumption was not
out of line.
In the “old days,” the feeling was “When it breaks, I'll fix it.”
But now, the equipment is so much more efficient that people
want to replace their older systems to take advantage of the
economic and environmental benefits of the newer technology.
Homeowners would rather pay to upgrade their existing equipment than
keep overpaying the utility company.
The benefits to the planet don't hurt either - every small step
counts.
I feel sorry for the folks that want are planning on replacing their
HVAC system in a year or two,
because these rebates are currently only guaranteed through 2011.
There's usually a window of one to three years when a homeowner is
thinking about replacing old equipment. I would hate for those on the
fence to miss out on the almost $2,000 available right now to help pay
for it.
No Cost or Obligation to Find Out How Much Geothermal Can Save You
I've been in this business for more than
20 years and have never seen the kind of financial assistance incentives
like the government has offered recently. 2011 is a great year to "Go

available.
