Air Conditioners & Energy EfficiencyAir Conditioners & Energy Efficiency: Compare Brand and Model Operating Costs, Reduce Home Energy / Utility BillsMuch like automobile manufacturers, today’s air conditioner manufacturers are required by law to evaluate and rate their equipment according to its energy efficiency.
EnergyGuide: Compare Efficiency and Operating CostsAll major home appliances must meet the Appliance Standards Program set by the US Department of Energy (DOE). Manufacturers must use standard test procedures developed by DOE to prove the energy use and efficiency of their products. Test results are printed on yellow EnergyGuide labels, which manufacturers are required to display on many appliances.
An ENERGY STAR qualified appliance must carry the EnergyGuide label.
EnergyGuide labels frequently note whether the product is ENERGY STAR
qualified. ENERGY STAR: Efficiency Guaranteed
